Blender
Digital creations made with Blender.Shi Shroom is wiser than any; his network of fungal species has existed for thousands of years, feeding him all wisdom. Therefore, the Shi Shroom possess all knowledge of the land and will guide any lost creature toward the right path. His power of poison flows through his beady red eyes, warding off all evil souls who pass.
The Blue Footed Pickle; This Lil pickle craves adventure beyond the pickle jar, and after many years of fermenting, developed its webbed feet. Despite the Blue-Footed Pickle's scary facial features, he is sweet and dil' icious in nature and character.
For the first time working with Blender, I aimed to create and develop creatures that I'm well versed in drawing by hand but also hold potential in developing a story and scene. For example, the mushroom creature named Shi Shroom and the Blue-footed pickle are funny creatures I see in small skit-type animations.
After completing these two models, it became more autonomous in creating more realistic models. I aimed at making eyeballs that could portray some natural character within the creatures. However, they proved difficult to rig and animate even by keeping the creatures simple and incorporating added details to their facial features, such as teeth, leaf arms, or webbed feet. For texturing and color of the skins, I mainly used gradients to hone in on the cartoon-like effect; however, when adding further detail, I initially used a grease pencil which, for the final product, I was unable to use due to the inability to animate.
With much more to learn and develop skill-wise, I will continue to fix and edit these creatures to ensure that the teeth of the pickle move with the body and to incorporate further detail by incorporating nodes into the texture of the creatures. In addition, I need to also rid of the origin lines and research further in rigging and animating to allow for more significant movements in the creatures.
The potential within Blender is fascinating, and while I am content with the current models, I look forward to evolving the skill set required for the software and developing more characters and creatures that work seamlessly.
